Fall Brings Fall Foliage

When the weather turns cooler, the foliage and the leaves of the trees start to die and fall. To many this would signify the end of a green lawn and outdoor usage but with GrassTex this is not true.

Fall is still a busy time for synthetic turf. If you are concerned about keeping your turf in top shape, we have the following recommendations for you:

Debris Removal: Weather is getting cooler and leaves are falling, candy wrappers are left behind, and lots of other annoying items and trash are finding their way onto your synthetic turf. Hand gathering larger debris and trash is the way to go but with leaves, you will probably be successful with a leaf blower. The key when using a leaf blower on synthetic turf is not to point it directly down at/into the turf. If you were to directly aim at the turf, the sheer amount of force would displace the infill from those areas, which would need to be refilled prior to activity in order to be safe. Blowing the leaves away at an angle will prevent this issue.

Grooming: Regular maintenance is of the utmost importance for peak performance of your turf in the desired application. During the busy fall season, though, it is critical to protecting your surface. With your grooming broom, you should be brushing the turf dependent on the application, not only is grooming good for your synthetic fibers, it’s also an great opportunity to be able check your infill levels and to look for possible repairs.
